Google explores Lea County for new data center

Google is exploring the possibility of building a new data center in Lea County, according to a post in Google’s Global Network News. The post describes the project as a long-term partnership with the county, with the company saying it will pay for 100% of the energy the project uses and manage water resources responsibly.

“Their goal is to serve as a long-term partner with the county,” the post stated.

Google said it looks forward to sharing more as the project progresses. Details about the project remain limited.

The post did not specify a timeline, location within the county, investment amount or number of jobs the project could create.
