Emmys return to Los Angeles with peacock blue carpet Monday

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held Monday at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, marking the ceremony’s return to the city. Television Academy voters will hand out the remaining awards after Creative Arts Emmys were distributed last weekend.

The Creative Arts Emmys honored technical achievements along with guest-starring roles and supporting actors, with more than 100 awards given across two days to artists and craftspeople in variety, reality and nonfiction series. Categories included cinematography, costumes, casting, editing and hosting.

Honorees from the early ceremony included the late Rob Reiner. Top winners were AppleTV+’s “Widow’s Bay” with eight awards and HBO Max’s “DTF St. Louis” with six. “The Pitt” and “Pluribus” each took four, while “Beef,” “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and “Palm Royale” each won three. “Bridgerton” and “Fallout” each received two.

Actress Mariska Hargitay will host Monday’s main ceremony. A longtime “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star, Hargitay is a three-time Emmy winner. Presenters will include Zendaya, Sally Field, Keke Palmer, Macaulay Culkin, Niecy Nash-Betts and Marcello Hernández.

In honor of NBC’s 100th anniversary, Monday’s event will feature a “peacock blue” carpet instead of the typical red carpet. The countdown begins at 2 p.m. Pacific, with the ceremony set to start roughly three hours later.

The Emmys telecast rotates between the broadcast networks. This year, the show airs live on NBC and streams live on Peacock at 8 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Pacific. “Live from E!: Countdown to the Emmys” begins at 5 p.m. ET on YouTube and Peacock. The Associated Press will also have a delayed feed of celebrity arrivals on YouTube.

KTLA will begin its annual coverage of the Emmys at 2 p.m. PT, with a special Emmys episode of “Off the Clock.”
