Los Lunas police chased 46-year-old Rashaun Thompson for 20 minutes before catching him in a neighbor’s yard. Deputies searching his car and home found two guns, fentanyl, meth and a significant amount of cash.
Thompson is facing charges of resisting arrest, trafficking drugs and possessing drugs.
The chase started on July 31, when Valencia County Sheriff’s deputies went to Thompson’s home in Los Lunas to serve a warrant on behalf of the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant was for distributing drugs and possessing a gun as a felon.
“Thompson takes off,” the Sheriff’s Office said. A neighbor called 911 to report seeing Thompson in their backyard hopping the fence.
Deputies found him after 20 minutes. “Thompson said he was scared for his life.”
Court records show two other pending cases against Thompson related to drug trafficking and possessing drugs.
Deputies executed a search warrant and used a K9 to help search the car and home.
Thompson has a scheduled arraignment in court next Wednesday.
