Saudi-led coalition strikes oil facilities west of Sanaa in Yemen

Military aircraft hit fuel depots west of Sanaa on Tuesday, according to Houthi-linked media. The action marks a fresh escalation in the widening regional conflict. Witnesses in the capital reported hearing explosions. It was not immediately clear what was hit.

The broadcaster Al-Masirah reported the strikes without providing evidence. Before the attack, a coalition spokesman asked residents to evacuate the area. That warning focused on the Yemeni Oil Company site and nearby storage areas.

The targeted al-Subaha area sits on a hill overlooking western Sanaa. It is not populated. The public uses the nearby fuel station.

Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree issued a statement on Telegram. Saree said any attack on Sanaa would bring a response in Riyadh that would be “firm and painful.”

Days earlier, an attack hit the international airport in Riyadh. That Saturday strike killed at least 13 people and wounded over 300. The kingdom scrambled to learn why air defenses missed the incoming barrage.

The coalition said it intercepted three drones north of Riyadh earlier Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Houthis renewed their warnings against planes using Saudi airspace. Several airlines have suspended flights to the kingdom.

A statement from the Houthi-run foreign ministry called Saudi Arabia the “Kingdom of the Horn of Satan.” The ministry said stability must belong to everyone. SABA news agency published the comments.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty phoned Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday. Abdelatty demanded an immediate halt to strikes on Saudi territory.

“There is no justification for these attacks, and they cannot be accepted,” Abdelatty told Araghchi.

The latest clashes began last month along the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Houthi forces seized key areas along the waterway. Coalition forces supporting the internationally recognized government are trying to retake those positions.

President Trump spoke to reporters in Washington on Monday. Trump said the Houthis were “misbehaving very badly.” He did not state whether American forces would respond directly.

The Bab el-Mandeb Strait connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. Sanaa serves as the base for Houthi administration authorities. The waterway carries commercial cargo and international oil shipments.

The coalition continues operations backing Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the rebels.
