Albuquerque balloon museum gets $400,000 donation for outdoor exhibit
The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum received a $400,000 gift from UMB bank in Albuquerque. The money will fund an upcoming open-air exhibit for visitors.
Work continues on the project on the museum grounds. The site sits on the back lawn and overlooks Balloon Fiesta Park.
The space is called “Outdoor Balloon Adventure.” Guests will walk through a half-inflated hot air balloon. They will also test their skills at competitive ballooning.
The bank will gain naming rights for “The Balloon Tower.” It will serve as one of the largest features in Albuquerque.
Museum officials said the money officially begins Phase 2 of the project.
The museum showcases the history and science of hot air ballooning. Staff host educational events and maintain displays for the public.
Crews are still building the outdoor attraction in Albuquerque. Work remains under way.
