Drier air returns with breezy winds continuing across Albuquerque this week

Albuquerque faces drier conditions and gusty breezes on Monday following stormy weather on Sunday. Gusty conditions will stick around through Wednesday while moisture clears out of central New Mexico.

Most of New Mexico stays dry on Monday. A few rain showers could form in southeast and east New Mexico this evening. Spotty showers remain possible in northwest New Mexico and southwest Colorado today.

A rain and snow mix is possible over high terrain in southwest Colorado. That moisture surge will continue over that region during the next few days.

Stronger upper-level winds over the Desert Southwest will generate gusty winds across the state. Gusts statewide may range between 20 and 40 mph, with some reaching 45 mph. Metro gusts could reach 30 mph today.

Breezy conditions will continue near the end of the workweek. A backdoor cold front will move into northeast New Mexico on Thursday morning. It brings cooler temperatures across the state into Friday.

Rain and storm chances increase near the end of the workweek. Moisture surges in from the south, bringing scattered showers on Friday and through the weekend. Heavy rainfall could become a concern.

A backdoor cold front pushes into an area from the east or northeast rather than the west. These boundaries frequently alter temperatures across the plains and valleys.

In Albuquerque, high temperatures will stay in the 70s for two to three days. Readings then drop into the 60s.
