Jon Quezada was arrested in Clovis on Friday in connection with the death of his wife. Deputies booked him into jail following an investigation into the fatal incident.
Curry County deputies received a call at about 4 p.m. to the 800 block of Curry Road U in Curry County. Quezada, 39, of Plainview, Texas, told the dispatcher he found his wife dead in the field. He called 911 directly.
Deputies made contact with Quezada and another person at the scene. They were directed to the body of 36-year-old Anna Ulibarri of Clovis. Deputies said she sustained numerous serious injuries and was dead.
Investigators alleged that Quezada and Ulibarri stayed at a hotel in the 2900 block of Mabry Drive in Clovis. That location is near Highway 70. They stayed there Thursday night.
Deputies said Ulibarri contacted the hotel front desk at about 3 a.m. on Friday. She requested security at that time. A short time later, Quezada encountered Ulibarri in the hotel lobby.
Quezada threatened her and ordered her to leave the building, according to investigators. In the parking lot, deputies said Quezada hit Ulibarri. He forced her into a vehicle.
The Curry County Sheriff’s Office investigates major crimes and operates patrol services across the county. Suspects booked on felony charges appear before a magistrate judge for initial hearings.
Deputies arrested Quezada on Friday. Deputies said they booked him into the Curry County Adult Detention Center on counts of Murder, Kidnapping, tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a firearm or destructive device.
