Breezy winds and drier conditions move into New Mexico this week

Isolated showers and severe storms brought large hail to parts of New Mexico today. The activity will taper off overnight while breezy gusts continue across the state. Rain chances will fade quickly.

Earlier storms produced damaging winds in several areas. Showers will dwindle overnight and push out of the region. Breezy conditions will remain behind them.

Rain chances will become spotty on Monday and Tuesday. Winds will stay active during this period. Gusts will not match the speeds recorded on Sunday afternoon.

A Pacific cold front arrives on Wednesday. It will sweep across New Mexico during the day. Most regions will stay dry during the frontal passage.

A few showers may develop along the front. Cooler air will follow directly behind the boundary. Temperatures will drop below average for the rest of the week.

Pacific cold fronts carry maritime air inland and regularly alter regional weather patterns. These systems typically generate sharp wind shifts and push cooler air into lower elevations.

The colder pattern will grip New Mexico through late next week. Dry weather will dominate most communities following the frontal boundary.
