Polish police received details about an alleged scheme targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw, officials stated Sunday. The threat also reportedly named Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz as a target. No further details about the reported scheme were immediately released.
Security services called an urgent session for 11 a.m. Sunday. Police and officials from the Interior Ministry planned to attend. They gathered to review the threat data.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka confirmed the emergency session took place. Tusk previously warned in September about hybrid operations from Russia. Those efforts focus on NATO territory.
Tusk stated Russia planned rocket or drone strikes against European nations that back Ukraine. Poland was among the named nations, he said. He said the effort aimed to reduce Western support for Ukraine. Moscow denied the claims.
The Interior Ministry coordinates national security services and law enforcement operations across the country. Warsaw serves as the central administrative hub for Polish security forces.
Authorities also stayed on high alert following three school attacks over four days. Those incidents happened in Mazovia province.
