Actor Selma Blair was taken into custody in New York following an incident aboard a commercial flight. Authorities said she injured two flight attendants during the travel from Los Angeles. The incident occurred late Sunday night.
Officers met the Delta Air Lines aircraft at the gate. The plane parked at John F. Kennedy Airport. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced the action in a statement.
Blair, 54, was accused of physically abusive behavior, officials said. Blair and one flight attendant went to a hospital for medical evaluation. Delta Air Lines did not immediately answer a request for comment.
The FBI handles matters involving reported assaults aboard aircraft. The agency declined to give details about the incident.
“Yesterday, we were informed by our partners at Port Authority Police Department of a potential assault aboard a flight that arrived into JFK. As per long-standing DOJ policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations,” said Sydney Kleinmann, a spokesman for the FBI NY.
State and federal prosecutors’ offices in New York did not immediately return messages. A message left with Blair’s publicist was not answered right away.
A representative for Blair told news outlets that a medical emergency led to the alleged conduct. Blair starred in films like “Cruel Intentions,” “Legally Blonde” and “Hellboy.”
Federal authorities review airline events. Port Authority police secure regional transit hubs and gates. Federal investigators process reported assaults on flights.
Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018. She joined President Joe Biden at the White House in 2023 for the Americans with Disabilities Act anniversary. In 2016, she apologized for past statements on a flight from Cancun to Los Angeles.
