Storm chances continue across New Mexico through the week

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are continuing across New Mexico, with repeated storms over the same areas still raising flash flooding concerns. Storms are generally moving north-northeast, and more rounds of rain are expected in the days ahead.

Rain chances will begin to come down Friday as slightly drier air moves into western New Mexico, according to the forecast. Scattered storms will still develop across central and eastern parts of the state, and some could still produce locally heavy rain.

There is also another chance for showers and storms in the Albuquerque Metro Friday.

Drier weather will gradually move in this weekend. Storm coverage will decrease Saturday, with only a few spotty rain chances expected by Sunday across most of New Mexico.

Another increase in monsoon moisture could arrive early next week with a low pressure system approaching from the west. That could bring a return to more widespread showers and thunderstorms Tuesday into Wednesday, along with another potential increase in heavy rain and flash flooding, and even cooler temperatures.
