Deputies search for two who vandalized Los Lunas elementary

Valencia County deputies are searching for two people believed to have broken into and vandalized Desert View Elementary School in Los Lunas. The two entered through a glass door and remained inside for about an hour, according to deputies.

Deputies responded to the school on Sunday regarding a break-in report, the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies searched the school after it was unclear whether those responsible were still inside. Nobody was found.

Two broken windows on doors beyond the cafeteria were discovered, along with spray paint on multiple walls throughout the school.

Deputies conducted a follow-up investigation on Monday and reviewed school security footage with staff.

The footage shows two people entering the school and remaining inside for about one hour, deputies said.

The two forced entry by striking the glass of a door with what appeared to be a pair of bolt cutters, according to the footage. The suspects were seen leaving through the same door.
