Los Lunas school broken into, vandalized with spray paint
Two people broke into an elementary school in Los Lunas and vandalized it with spray paint, according to the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office is asking the public for help identifying the two individuals believed to be involved.
Deputies said they responded Sunday to Desert View Elementary School regarding a break-in report. They searched the school after being alerted that it was unknown whether those responsible were still inside. Nobody was found during the search.
Deputies found two broken windows on doors beyond the cafeteria and spray paint on multiple walls throughout the school.
Deputies said they conducted a follow-up investigation Monday and reviewed available school security footage with staff. The footage shows two people entering the school and remaining inside for about one hour, according to deputies.
The footage showed the individuals forcing entry through a glass door by striking the glass with what appeared to be a pair of bolt cutters. The suspects were seen leaving through the same door, deputies said.
