St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho launches Diaper Pantry

St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday to launch a new Diaper Pantry for eligible families. The program is intended to give parents one less expense to weigh against food, housing and other basic needs.

The Diaper Pantry was established through the St. Francis Fund, according to the pantry. Beginning in October, eligible pantry guests will receive a week’s supply of diapers alongside their regular food distribution on the second Saturday of each month.

“Food insecurity rarely exists in isolation,” Tim Sheahan, president and CEO of St. Felix Pantry, stated in a news release. “Many of the families we serve are making difficult choices every day between food, housing, transportation, childcare, and other necessities. By adding diapers to our services, we can help relieve one more burden and provide support that promotes the health, dignity, and well-being of children and families.”

The pantry is partnering with the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce on the launch.

Community members are invited to attend the kickoff and donate diapers or make a financial contribution. Anyone who brings a box of diapers or contributes more than $20 during the event will be entered into a drawing for a 50-inch Smart TV.

The ribbon-cutting is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. at St. Felix Pantry, 4020 Barbara Loop SE in Rio Rancho. A light lunch will be served.
