Rio Rancho routs Atrisco Heritage 58-13 in district opener

Rio Rancho opened district play with a 58-13 win over Atrisco Heritage Academy at Community Stadium on Saturday. The 45-point victory gave the Rams control of their district opener from the first quarter on.

Senior wide receiver Gilly Terrazas sparked the Rio Rancho offense. With the Rams already leading in the first quarter, Terrazas caught a short pass, bounced off a defender and powered into the end zone for a seven-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 20-7.

Terrazas struck again on the next scoring drive. He caught another quick pass, found open space and raced to the end zone for another touchdown.

Rio Rancho’s offense continued to roll from there as the Rams pulled away for the win.
