Mystery animal attacks people in Lebanon, New Hampshire

The Lebanon Police Department is investigating an unidentified aggressive animal that has attacked at least three people in Lebanon, New Hampshire, since Aug. 30. Police said the animal has displayed unusually aggressive behavior and that it has not been captured or positively identified.

Officers have not personally observed or encountered the animal, investigators said. They believe it may be a gray fox or a fisher, but no confirmation has been made.

Police released video of the animal attacking two people as they got out of a U-Haul.

The Lebanon Police Department said it has notified the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and is coordinating with them on the incidents.

Residents in the Centerra Park area are being urged to use caution and be aware of their surroundings, especially when walking near wooded, brush-covered or other areas where wildlife could be present.

Officials said the animal could pose a rabies risk. Anyone who has been attacked, bitten or scratched is being asked to seek medical treatment and report it to the Lebanon Police Department.
