The Archbishop of Santa Fe traveled to the Albuquerque area to discuss the importance of water and to bless the Rio Grande. Archbishop John C. Wester invited people of all faiths to join him in conversation about water and the responsibility to protect it.
“In dealing with this vital issue, I call for conversation, collaboration and concrete action as we listen to one another, as we learn from science and lived experience, protect those most vulnerable to water insecurity, conserve this precious gift, and work together and tougher so that clean, life-giving water remains available for generations to come,” Wester said.
Following the discussions in Albuquerque, Wester prayed and poured sacred water into the dry river bed as a blessing.
