High school football teams across New Mexico wrapped up Week 4 with a slate of lopsided Friday night games, while two Thursday matchups set the tone for the weekend. Of the 16 Friday games, eight ended in shutouts, including Artesia’s 53-0 win over Deming and Volcano Vista’s 50-0 rout of Clovis.
La Cueva topped West Mesa 54-0, and Las Cruces blanked Hobbs 41-0. Los Lunas shut out Capital 50-0, Belen beat Pojoaque 47-6, and Valley downed Del Norte 53-0. Hot Springs closed out Socorro 50-0.
The night’s closest finish came in Moriarty, where Silver held off Moriarty 22-19.
Other Friday winners: Cleveland over Farmington 69-35, Roswell over Rio Rancho 39-35, Roswell over Alamogordo 56-26, Santa Fe over Highland 55-24, Centennial over Carlsbad 35-7, Goddard over Chaparral 47-0, and Gadsden over Mayfield 56-21.
On Thursday, Sandia beat Albuquerque High 46-0, and Cibola handled Miyamura 56-13.
