Stockton Man Arrested for Homicide After Missing 74-Year-Old Is Found Dead

Stockton police have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of homicide in the death of a 74-year-old resident who had been reported missing, the department announced.

The older man was last seen on August 24 and was reported missing in late August. Police later found his car near the 1500 block of S. San Joaquin Street, and on Friday detectives served a search warrant at a nearby home. The man’s body was found in an unincorporated area of San Joaquin County through what police described as additional investigative efforts.

Luis Moran, 28, was arrested for homicide. Police also arrested Francisco Renteria-Sanchez, 28, for accessory — a charge that involves helping a suspect in a criminal case.

The Stockton Police Department’s investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are continuing to follow standard procedures in the death investigation.
