Jevon Martinez, 44, appeared in an Albuquerque courtroom Wednesday on criminal damage and larceny charges. The case follows allegations that he intentionally damaged automated Flock surveillance cameras earlier this year.
Police said Martinez destroyed the devices. Martinez said he did so as a political statement. He currently faces ten charges for damaging property and larceny.
During a Sandoval County hearing, Martinez claimed a “special appearance, not a general appearance.” He then walked out. In Albuquerque on Wednesday, his defense attorney spoke for him.
Pre-trial hearings allow Albuquerque judges to review case evidence and resolve motions before trial.
Martinez has a pre-trial hearing set for April next year.
