Several streets in Gallup flooded Monday afternoon as flash flooding hit the area. Police urged drivers to avoid a list of intersections and to use extreme caution during the weather event.
The Gallup Police Department identified the following streets and intersections as completely flooded:
- South First Street and Highway 66
- Ford and Highway 66
- East Aztec and Boardman Drive
- N. 6th and Maloney Ave
- Arnold and West Highway 66
- Greet and First Street
- Valley View and Aztec
- 7th and Maloney
- Burke and East Aztec
According to a Flash Flood Warning shared by McKinley County Emergency Alerts, locations expected to experience flash flooding include Gallup, Church Rock, Red Rock State Park, Allison, Gamerco, Mentmore and Red Rock. The warning covers Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 13 and 30.
