Kalani Hodges sentenced in fatal 2022 Albuquerque DWI crash

A judge sentenced Kalani Hodges in Albuquerque on Tuesday for a deadly drunken driving wreck. The hearing ended a criminal case that began following a fatal collision in 2022. He will serve seven years in prison.

Hodges drove at high speeds near Coors and Saint Josephs in 2022. He crashed his car along the Albuquerque roadway. The collision killed 71-year-old Nena Johnson.

Hodges ran from law enforcement for two years following the deadly wreck. Officers arrested him in 2024. He faced charges of homicide by vehicle, DWI, and reckless driving.

State sentencing hearings determine how long an offender remains in custody. Incarceration periods depend on the specific convictions handed down in court.

A judge ordered Hodges to spend seven years behind bars in Albuquerque. Justice officials then processed him to begin his sentence.
