Dry and mild weather continues across New Mexico ahead of rain

Mostly calm conditions and clear skies cover the Albuquerque Metro for the ongoing Balloon Fiesta. Dry air remains dominant statewide before incoming moisture brings scattered showers later in the week.

Light precipitation is entering parts of the Four Corners area. Most of the state starts with morning temperatures slightly above normal. Northern regions range from the high 20s to the 50s. Southern areas range from the 40s to near 60 degrees, according to KRQE.

Most of the state stays sunny throughout the day. Mountainous spots in the northwest may see isolated precipitation. High temperatures will run several degrees above average for many communities.

Eastern parts of the state and the Pecos River Valley will reach the 70s to lower 80s. Northern mountain elevations will stay in the high 40s and 50s. Northern valley floors and central areas will rise into the 70s and lower 80s.

Isolated showers and weak thunderstorms will develop over northern and western peaks later today. Skies remain mostly sunny elsewhere.

Two distinct moisture surges will move across the state soon. Rain activity will reach parts of the Rio Grande Valley by the weekend. Most areas will experience a slight temperature drop.

Seasonal moisture shifts often bring changing autumn weather patterns to high-desert terrain. Mountain ranges frequently see precipitation before lower elevation basins.

Isolated precipitation will continue across New Mexico from late Monday through Wednesday.
