Albuquerque aquarium hosts family event to help endangered sea turtles

Deborah Cook greeted visitors at the Albuquerque Biopark for Sea Turtle Discovery Day. The session showed people practical ways to protect endangered marine turtles.

“They can not use a plastic straw, a reusable water bottle, their own shopping bag for going to the grocery store, and really being aware of how much plastic is not recycled and reducing their use,” said Cook, Education Coordinator for Aquarium Activities.

The Aquarium in Albuquerque provides care for resident marine wildlife. It currently houses two sea turtles who cannot survive in the wild on their own.

Displays shared information about turtle biology and major threats. Children in Albuquerque made a sea turtle craft. They took the projects home.
