Samuel Ray Ramirez arrested in connection with Roswell stabbing

Samuel Ray Ramirez faces an aggravated battery charge following a Roswell stabbing investigation. The incident left another local man with serious injuries.

Officers booked Ramirez, 47, into custody on Oct. 5. Another suspect, 51-year-old Phillip Napoleon Contreras, was arrested the same night the attack happened. Both men face aggravated battery charges.

The stabbing took place on Sept. 22 in the 70 block of G Street. The 43-year-old victim was hospitalized with serious wounds. He is currently recovering from his injuries, Roswell Police said.

Investigators believe the victim argued with at least one suspect about an hour earlier. That dispute was verbal.

An aggravated battery charge in New Mexico involves unlawful physical force against another person. Police agencies investigate the scene and question witnesses before filing formal criminal complaints with local courts.

Roswell Police handled the investigation into the violent encounter on G Street.
