Hanna Sanchez sentenced to probation in Estancia aggravated battery case

Hanna Sanchez received one year of probation in Estancia following a misdemeanor battery plea agreement. The Torrance County fire official will keep her job under the court agreement. She received a deferred sentence earlier this month.

In March, Estancia police responded to a disturbance at the home of Randy Sanchez and Sanchez. A man was reportedly yelling at their children and waving a weapon. Police said the man was known as unhoused and facing mental health struggles.

Officers reported that the pair later went to the property where the man stayed. Police stated the couple attacked the man with sticks and pipes. A video recorded Randy yelling, “I will f******* kill you.”

The footage also recorded Sanchez yelling, “Stay off Allen Street you little f****** tweaker f***!” Police arrested both individuals in April on aggravated battery charges. Sanchez pled no contest to misdemeanor aggravated battery.

The Torrance County Fire Department confirmed Sanchez remains employed. Officials stated the case will not affect her employment status. The department dismissed Randy. He is currently awaiting trial.

Deferred sentences allow defendants to avoid incarceration by meeting court requirements. A probation period typically includes counseling and supervision by the justice system.

Sanchez will avoid jail time if she completes counseling under the Estancia ruling. She must also follow all other probation conditions.
