Knicks pause ticket sales after pricing mistake overcharged fans

The New York Knicks said Thursday they are pausing individual game ticket sales after a mistake caused tickets for the 2026-27 season to be listed at prices that were too high. The team put the tickets on sale this week, with the get-in price for the Oct. 20 season opener against Philadelphia listed at more than $1,000.

Madison Square Garden Sports said in a statement that sales are being rolled back to last year’s prices plus an average increase of 12%.

“We are pausing Knicks individual ticket sales due to a mistake in our pricing. We are rolling back to last year’s prices plus an average increase of 12%. We will restart sales with new prices shortly, and anyone who already purchased individual tickets will be refunded the difference,” Madison Square Garden Sports said in a statement.

The team said the intention was never to overcharge fans.

“Our intention was never to overcharge our loyal fans, and we thank everyone for their support of the Knicks and their patience as we get this right,” MSG said.

MSG said there is generally a ticket increase after seasons when the Knicks make the playoffs. Owner James Dolan has not raised prices when the team does not, the company said.

The process for purchasing season tickets began months ago and was not affected.

“Fan first” sales for those who sign up to get priority for single-game tickets at face value were held Monday and Tuesday, and general public sales began Wednesday.
