Jake Hall led the UNM Men’s Basketball Team to a 99-89 exhibition win over Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Sunday. The victory opened a three-game exhibition schedule for the Lobos under Head Coach Eric Olen.
Hall delivered a game-high 31 points and made six three-pointers. New Mexico enters year two under Olen.
The Lobos faced the Cowboys, a member of the Big 12 Conference. Four New Mexico players scored in double figures during the matchup.
Scorers for the Lobos included:
- Jake Hall: 31 points
- Flynn Lasting: 16 points
- Hudson Mayes: 13 points
The team shot 49 percent from the field. They also made 43 percent of their three-point attempts. Stillwater host Oklahoma State collected 22 offensive rebounds.
New Mexico held the lead for nearly 32 minutes during the road contest. They secured the 10-point victory despite the physical play.
Olen credited the team’s energy after the final buzzer.
“I thought our guys were excited to play. I thought they were really connected, a lot of enthusiasm for competing, and I think that’s what you want to see,” Olen said. “I think we have a lot of weapons on offense, and I think we have a lot of different guys who can score.”
Olen praised the shot selection in the second half. He commended the guard for passing the ball to open teammates.
“I thought really in that second half, too, Jake made some great decisions passing the ball and getting other guys shots. That’s some maturity to his game,” Olen said.
The matchup was not televised. This limited game footage and highlights.
College basketball exhibition games do not count toward official regular-season records. Teams use these preseason matchups to test lineups and prepare players before the regular season begins.
UNM will return home to Albuquerque to close out its final two exhibition contests. They play Washington State next Sunday at 2 p.m.
