Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across New Mexico through Friday, with repeated storms over the same areas still posing a flash flooding risk. Storms that developed across the state are generally moving north-northeast, and forecasters said rain chances will begin to come down Friday as slightly drier air moves into western New Mexico.
Scattered storms will still develop across central and eastern parts of the state, and some could still produce locally heavy rain. The Albuquerque Metro also faces another chance for showers and storms Friday.
Drier weather will gradually move in over the weekend. Storm coverage will decrease Saturday, with only a few spotty rain chances expected by Sunday across most of New Mexico.
Another increase in monsoon moisture could arrive early next week as a low pressure system approaches from the west. That could bring a return to more widespread showers and thunderstorms Tuesday into Wednesday, along with another potential increase in heavy rain and flash flooding and even cooler temperatures.
