Tucumcari police chief resigns after one year on the job

Tucumcari Police Chief Lorenzo Emillio announced Tuesday that he submitted his resignation after just over a year on the job. His departure will take effect 30 days from the announcement, he said.

In a statement shared on social media, Emillio said the resignation would allow him to have much-needed rest, spend more time with his family, and focus on more personal goals and opportunities.

“Serving as Chief of Police has been an incredible honor and an experience that I will always be grateful for. I want to sincerely thank the citizens of Tucumcari for giving me the opportunity to serve this community and for the support, trust, and kindness that so many of you have shown me during my time as Chief,” Emillio said in his statement.

Emillio was appointed as chief last summer and has been in law enforcement for around 26 years.
