Tucumcari police chief resigns after just over a year on the job

Tucumcari Police Chief Lorenzo Emillio has submitted his resignation after just over a year on the job. In a statement shared Tuesday on social media, Emillio said the resignation will take effect 30 days from that day.

Emillio said the move will allow him to rest, spend more time with his family, and focus on personal goals and opportunities.

“Serving as Chief of Police has been an incredible honor and an experience that I will always be grateful for,” Emillio said in the statement. “I want to sincerely thank the citizens of Tucumcari for giving me the opportunity to serve this community and for the support, trust, and kindness that so many of you have shown me during my time as Chief.”

Emillio was appointed as chief last summer, according to the report. He has been in law enforcement for around 26 years.
