Donald Trump reviews Iranian proposal to end war in West Palm Beach

President Donald Trump reviewed a new plan to end fighting on Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida. The review could shape peace terms, but the president expressed sharp doubts about reaching an agreement. Trump spoke to reporters on Saturday before he boarded Air Force One.

“I’ll let you know about it later,” Trump said. He added that officials were going to give him the exact wording.

Trump posted on social media shortly after speaking to reporters. He said he doubted the proposal would work.

“can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years.”

Tasnim and Fars reported that Iran sent a 14-point proposal through Pakistan. Both outlets are believed to be close to the Revolutionary Guard. The document answered a nine-point plan from the United States.

State-run media in Iran have not reported on the document. Pakistan hosted previous negotiations between the two nations. Trump rejected an earlier proposal this week.

Conversations have continued between the nations. A three-week ceasefire appears to be holding. Trump also floated a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

About a fifth of global oil and gas trade passes through the waterway. The channel sits at the mouth of the Persian Gulf. Leaders are monitoring the strategic passage.

Activist Health and Shipping Warnings

The health of imprisoned rights lawyer Narges Mohammadi was at very high risk, her foundation said. Iran’s Intelligence Ministry opposed her transfer to Tehran. Medical teams in Zanjan recommended the capital transfer.

Mohammadi fainted and suffered a cardiac crisis on Friday. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate is in her early 50s. Her family said her health worsened from a December arrest beating.

Her husband, Taghi Rahmani, spoke in a voice message from Paris. He said the ministry opposed imaging of her blood vessels. The Norwegian Nobel Committee urged authorities to transfer her immediately.

“She has the mental resilience for imprisonment, but her body does not have the readiness. The Ministry of Intelligence wouldn’t even mind if (she) died,” Rahmani said.

Their children have not seen Mohammadi since 2015. She previously served a sentence of 13 years and nine months. Her charges included collusion against state security and government propaganda.

Mohammadi was on furlough starting in late 2024. Authorities arrested her again on Dec. 12. Her legal team is pursuing the transfer with prosecutors.

Federal officials in West Palm Beach followed security notices regarding global trade. The United States warned shipping companies about potential sanctions. Firms were told not to pay fees to pass through the strait.

Iran attacked and threatened ships after the war began on Feb. 28. Tehran charged fees for safe routes near its shore. The United States barred cash, digital assets and charitable donations.

Military Blockade and Executions

American forces have blockaded Iranian ports since April 13. The blockade deprives Tehran of vital oil revenue. U.S. Central Command turned back 48 commercial ships on Saturday.

Iran hanged two men on Saturday convicted of spying for Israel. Judiciary outlet Mizanonline identified the men as Yaghoub Karimpour and Nasser Bekrzadeh. Both men faced closed legal proceedings.

Karimpour was accused of sending sensitive information to Israel’s Mossad. Bekrzadeh allegedly sent details about leaders and the Natanz facility. American and Israeli forces bombed the nuclear site last year.

Iran has hanged more than a dozen people in recent weeks. Human rights groups say the nation conducts closed-door trials. Defendants cannot challenge evidence in those hearings.

Ceasefire proposals set terms to halt combat operations between warring nations. Diplomatic negotiations allow neutral countries to deliver official messages between hostile governments. Mediators try to reach signed accords during temporary pauses.

Trump will review the foreign messages before making further statements in West Palm Beach.
