Albuquerque event honors lives of children lost to abuse and violence
Community members will gather in Albuquerque for an event focused on remembering young lives lost to harm. The free public gathering celebrates children and honors victims of abuse and violence.
The organization Blessed and Beautiful will host the gathering, titled “Hands are for Hugging not Hurting.” Everyone is invited to attend.
Activities begin with a balloon release for the innocent lives lost. Organizers planned a talent show open to any child under the age of 18. All contestants will get a prize. It is free.
Attendees in Albuquerque will receive complimentary pizza and snacks. The schedule features jump-roping contests, coloring contests, face painting and a cake walk. Guest speakers and special guests will also attend.
Community events of this type provide safe public spaces for families to remember victims together. Local gatherings often combine memorial tributes with youth activities to support area residents.
The gathering takes place at ABQ Party Space on Tuesday, April 30. Activities run from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Albuquerque.
