Russian strikes kill two people across Ukraine as attacks escalate

Bombardments in Kyiv and across Ukraine killed two people and injured five on Friday, officials said. The attacks followed multiple deadly missile and drone strikes over the past three days. More than 50 people died in those earlier attacks across the country.

One man died and five people suffered injuries in Zaporizhzhia on Friday morning, Mykhailo Semikin said. The regional military administration head noted the strikes hit residential areas and injured a child.

Another man died in Ivano-Frankivsk, regional military administration head Svitlana Onyshchuk reported. Strikes also hit warehouse facilities in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region on Friday.

Ukraine’s Interior Ministry said on Telegram that the Bucha attack wounded three people. Emergency teams searched for a woman who may be under the rubble. The ground armies remain deadlocked over four years into the war.

A Ukrainian attack killed two people in Russia’s Belgorod region on Friday, emergency officials stated. Regional governor Alexander Shuvayev said strikes wounded 12 people in the area.

On Thursday, a Russian guided bomb struck public buses in eastern Ukraine and killed 30 people. A missile strike killed 22 people in the northern town of Pryluky on Wednesday. Five children died in Pryluky.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia will increase attacks before winter. Recent targets include energy systems, railways, post offices, shopping centers, telecom networks, gas stations and grain exports.

Zelenskyy appealed on Thursday for additional defense support from NATO nations.

“It is important that support in words takes concrete form in new packages for Ukraine’s defense,” he wrote in an online post. “Supplies of anti-ballistic capabilities, ammunition for our combat aircraft and investments in interceptors – all of this is directly helping save lives every day.”

Ukraine cannot stop ballistic weapons without ammunition for Patriot air defense systems. The military is racing to build interceptors fast enough to catch jet-propelled drones.

Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone strike damaged a Yandex data center in Russia’s Kaluga region, the company confirmed. Several modules were completely disabled. Governor Vladislav Shapsha said strikes wounded nine people in Kaluga on Friday.

An earlier attack disabled another data center in Ryazan on Thursday. In Redkino, a drone ignited a factory fire, Tver governor Vitaly Korolyov reported. Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defenses downed 505 Ukrainian drones from late Thursday to early Friday.

Regional military administrations coordinate local defense efforts and emergency response services across Ukraine. In places like Kyiv, administrative teams work directly with national rescue services to clear strike locations. They secure damaged infrastructure following aerial attacks.

Long-range aerial strikes continue across both countries into the fifth year of conflict. Emergency crews remain on alert for further strikes in populated regions.
