iPhone users gain discreet way to hide location in iOS 27

Apple’s new iOS 27 update gives iPhone users a more discreet way to temporarily stop sharing their location, without alerting the person they stopped sharing with. The feature, called “Hide Location,” lets users keep their whereabouts private in a specific iMessage conversation without triggering the gray notification that previously appeared when location sharing was stopped.

With the new option, the other person would only know something had changed if they opened Find My or checked the map.

The hidden location appears as “No Location Found” and “Off-Network,” similar to what someone might see if a phone were turned off or outside of cellular service.

Apple says the feature can be useful for things like secretly planning a surprise party or running an errand without spoiling a surprise.
