A horse in Grant County has been confirmed as New Mexico’s second New World screwworm case, the state Department of Agriculture announced. The case comes less than a month after the state lifted infested zone restrictions, a spokesperson for the department said.
Livestock health officials are coordinating with the agriculture department to determine next steps. The only other case confirmed in the state was found in a Lea County dog in June.
