Police investigate reported sexual assault at Santa Fe Railyard Park
A woman told officers she was attacked Wednesday night at the Santa Fe Railyard Park. Police are increasing patrols to secure the public space and identify the suspects.
The victim reported she was walking alone in the park. Three males then approached her, police said. She told officers the attackers had dark hair and wore all black clothing.
The males jumped on the woman, according to police. They proceeded to take turns sexually assaulting her. It was a violent encounter.
The males also took belongings from the victim. Those items included a purse. Santa Fe officers are searching for the attackers.
The agency announced precaution measures following the report. Officers will increase high-visibility patrols in the Railyard district. The department plans strict enforcement of the citywide park curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The Santa Fe Railyard Park serves as a public gathering space in the city center. Police departments routinely enforce night curfews to help deter crimes in community parks.
