Oklahoma Couple Killed When a Car Strikes Their Golf Cart on State Highway 2
A Porum couple died Sunday night when the golf cart they were riding was struck from behind on an Oklahoma highway, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
John Head and Dawn Head were traveling south in the cart on State Highway 2, south of East 303rd Street South in Muskogee County, after 9:30 p.m. when a southbound vehicle came up behind them. The driver told troopers the cart had no lights; the vehicle struck it in the rear, and the cart overturned onto its side off the road.
Both occupants were thrown from the cart and died from the impact. The people in the other vehicle reported no injuries.
Muskogee County troopers responded and cleared the scene later that evening. The Highway Patrol investigates traffic collisions on state highways across Oklahoma and compiles reports on fatal incidents, including roadway factors, for the official record.
State Highway 2 runs through rural Muskogee County communities like Porum.
