About Us
DukeCityWire is an independent local news site covering Albuquerque and New Mexico. We publish what is happening in the Duke City every day — city hall and county government, courts and public safety, schools, business, weather, and sport.
What we cover
Our newsroom works across five desks:
- Local News — Albuquerque city government, Bernalillo County, schools, transport and the neighbourhoods across the metro.
- Crime — courts, policing, fire and the cases moving through the system, reported from the record rather than the rumour.
- Sports — UNM Lobos, New Mexico United, high school athletics and the local leagues.
- Weather — monsoon storms, flood watches, winter warnings and the forecasts that change your day.
- Latest News — the state and national stories that matter to New Mexicans.
How we work
We write in plain language and keep stories short, because most people read the news on a phone between other things. Where a story is still developing we say so, and we update it rather than leaving a stale version standing.
Every article carries a byline and a date. If we get something wrong we correct it, note the correction on the article, and move on — quietly fixing an error without saying so is not a correction.
Independence
DukeCityWire is independently operated and is not owned by a political party, campaign or advocacy group. Advertising is kept separate from editorial decisions: advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we cover it.
