La Plata County Road 329 closed indefinitely after culvert fails
La Plata County Road 329 has closed indefinitely after a culvert failed during persistent heavy rain. The road, located east of Highway 151, south of Allison, and east of Tiffany, suffered “significant structural damage,” according to La Plata County officials.
“County Road 329 is closed indefinitely, located east of Highway 151, south of Allison, and east of Tiffany,” officials stated in a news release. “The closure is the result of a washed-out road caused by a failed culvert.”
The La Plata County Road & Bridge Department will assess the damage to determine a timeline for repairs, officials said.
The road is about 45 minutes southeast of Durango and a few miles north of the New Mexico border.
Drivers are asked to use caution as heavy rains continue in the forecast. Officials advise avoiding standing water, watching for mud and debris, and driving slowly on slick roads.
